The “off-season” calendar usually unfolds in a
fairly familiar fashion in recent years. By October, Tusc is full. By November,
camp is very close to full. By December, many key staff have committed to
returning. It appears this year is no different. Tusc is full. Camp is very
close to full. And over the last week or so, several offers that went out
shortly after Summer 2014 concluded have been accepted. So will mark winter
months warmed by several announcements of staff appointments. The Programming
staff is taking shape with Jacob McKinney, Erin Fauer, Rachel Philipson, and
Cameron Robinson set to grace CSL with returns in 2015. All huge re-additions.
Jacob McKinney returns to Programming after moving
more things around camp in 2014 than anyone in history. Jacob will continue in
a similar role, Director of Field Operations. Once again, things will get to
where they need throughout the summer because of Jacob, whether it be igloos,
sound systems, tables, vehicles, lighting, stages, benches, cabins, human
beings . He is the first person ever to hold a full-time position in this area
(partially named after long-time staff member Marc Field), making an enormous
difference. Jacob studies Engineering at Clarkson University and sees a close
relationship between his aspirations in that field and putting together the
physical camp equation each day.
Erin Fauer joins Programming as the Associate
Program Director, taking over all operations and logistics. She has served
across myriad positions at CSL over the years. After her camper career ended
(Tusc 2008), Erin worked as an Onondaga counselor, LIT counselor, Pool
Assistant Director, and in 2014 as a Tusc counselor. Erin is set to graduate
from the University of Delaware in the near future.
Rachel Philipson returns to Programming after a
tremendously successful 2014 summer. A Tusc 2010 camper, Rachel worked as a
babysitter, counselor, and Waterfront specialist prior to joining Programming
last summer. Rachel will serve as Curriculum Coordinator working closely with
Neil Pickus (Senior Associate Program Director) in the newly designed Content
area including Program Areas and Hobbies as well as Erin Fauer on the operational
side. Rachel is currently attending Boston University.
Cameron Robinson also returns to Programming in
2015 after an incredible start in Summer 2014. Cameron served as Assistant
Director of Media and will be promoted to Director of Media, including oversight
of all summer communications content across all vehicles (newly-refurbished
website, twitter, instagram, facebook), video production, and photography.
Cameron will play a major role in integrating the blog into the new website as
well as adding to the new frontiers of videos for Programming and
communications. Cameron is currently at the Rochester Institute of Technology
majoring in New Media Design making this opportunity particularly fitting for
his career aspirations..
All four are enormous additions to the Summer 2015
staff and we are extremely excited about what’s to come. Programming is still
in the process of being filled out including Judaica staff, Evening &
Village Programming, as well as a videographer and photographer. It’s getting
colder, which means summer is drawing closer.
See You Soon,
Ari Baum, Associate Director
