One of the many CSL mottos is "I shall return". Well that motto came into play when the oldest Senecans returned to camp today. We survived the three day adirondack campout. It was a long ride but it was surprisingly very smooth (well not so much the bus ride). The bus ride was long and hot, especially when we shared a bus with the boys. Still, we avoided the heat by sleeping and drinking a lot of water.
Except for all of the bugs, the campers enjoyed the campout. We were placed over a beautiful lake, surrounded by mountains. We also learned new skills, from learning how to tie a knot to learning how to make chicken stir fry.
The hike itself was fantastic. There was little rain, and the temperature was nice and cool. As we told riddles and learned gibberish, the time and the miles flew by. We reached top of the mountain with the most gorgeous view awaiting us. Once we finished the five mile hike, the girls could not feel anything but accomplished.
Of course, we are now all exhausted and ready to have a normal day back at CSL. And although our legs itch and burn with mosquito bites, those will soon fade, but the memories from our adirondack hike will last forever.
