Summer 2014 saw the largest contingent of Israeli
staff in CSL History due in large part to the new partnership with the Goodman
Initiative. We expect that presence to deepen in 2015, including several
returners. David Omer will return as Drama Director and Maor Ohana returns to
take leadership of the Israel Culture Program.
David attended camp in 2014 as a Mohawk counselor
and Drama Specialist. He hails from Ashkelon, Israel. He attended Mekif Ironi
Alef High School graduating with a certificate in Acting. He then served in the
Army, with the Ministry of Defense Unit for three years. Prior to working at
CSL, David worked with summer camps in Israel for several summers. Following
camp, David will attend Beit Zvi School of the Performing Arts and Training of
Actors.
Maor is from a small Moshav called Zippori. Maor
actually attended American Jewish camp (Tamarack) for one summer and of course
was a counselor at CSL (Mohawk) in 2014. He has technological diploma with
concentrations in physics and computer programming. In the arm, Maor served in
the artillery corps after serving as a radar operator. He later became a driver
for the southern battery commander of his battalion. Maor is just finishing up
his stint in the army and looks forward to being back at CSL.
Several other Israelis will be at camp in 2015,
including a couple of others from 2014. More to come.
See You Soon,
Ari Baum, Associate Director
