Hi, I'm Ali, an S2 activity counselor at the waterfront! At CSL it is currently raining, something that usually brings on a whole slew of questions from the campers that go something like, "since it's raining do we STILL have to go to the pool?!" As per usual, the answer is yes, because CSL does not stop moving even when faced with a downpour. That's just one of the many beauties of CSL.
This morning the waterfront demonstrated just how closely we hold to that standard of constant activity. Although it was thundering, we were not about to stop our fun. An interpretive dance competition ensued while waiting for the thunder to end, as we couldn't be on the water. Once the coast was clear, a myriad of campers hopped into canoes and kayaks to splash around before lunch. They really took getting after it to a whole new level.
Clearly, nothing much holds us back at CSL. Some of my fondest memories from camp are mud sliding almost immediately after rain started to fall. Just the other day it was raining, and instead of sitting inside, I went on a "ravine run" with all of Mohawk, something that can be described as a chaotic (but hilariously fun) version of exploring. I am so grateful for this sort of energy that is found at CSL. No one wants to stop what they're doing even when faced with possibly limiting conditions. We are all simply having too much fun to sit around waiting for the storm to pass. So instead, cliche as it may be, we dance in the rain.
