This past Shabbat was inspired by the quote "you must look within for value, and beyond for perspective." Various staff members spoke during services and gave great insight to their interpretation of this quote. One of the speeches resonated deeper with me than others. It was about the idea of other people's perspective on camp. I am constantly questioned by my friends at home. "Why do you want to go to camp ALL summer?" "What do you even do there?" "You have to wake up at 7:45 EVERY morning?" "Don't you get bored?" I cant help but laugh when I am asked these questions. It's hard to put into words what makes this place so special and how it makes all of these campers and staff feel everyday. But what I can tell you is that what goes on at camp every summer is magical. Its more than just waterfront periods and climbing the cat walk. It's very hard to find another place where there are so many people genuinely happy all the time.
We have had a great session thus far and I'm excited to see what the rest of the session brings.
