Sarah Kaufman's Final Campfire Speech

Every night I fall asleep in my cabin staring up at the ceiling that is covered in colorful pictures, names plastered on wooden beams, old SSL trophies placed on shelves above my head, and plaques hanging by the door. If these walls, these plaques, these trophies could talk, what would they say? All of this Seneca history floating above my head, sharing stories from Senecas past, has made me nostalgic as I start to reflect not only on my eight summers spent in Seneca, but most specifically on our story this year in 2014.I have never met a group of young women who are more passionate about each other and about this village. Seneca is more than just cheering in the dining hall, dancing in the orec, and stargazing at night, and you all understand that. We have created something special this summer in Seneca and I see it in your faces when you motivate, console, cry and laugh with each other. You all should be so proud of what you have accomplished these past couple of weeks. Thank you making my first year as Seneca unit head one that I will never forget and for writing our story — one that will be cherished for years to come. To share her Seneca story, the Seneca staff has chosen Jenna Vangellow to speak tonight.
