This summer we had two choices; either to take a leap of faith or to sit back and wait. If you choose to sit back and wait, then you will never know what could happen. If you choose to take a leap of faith you could have the summer of your life. At Camp Seneca Lake, and especially Mohawk, we follow this belief which shows us to try and take advantage of every moment we can. This enables us to discover more about ourselves and each other.Mohawk has always been a brotherhood, but this summer especially, we proved that brotherhood is just the start of who we are. On the first night of Camp the village talked about making the most of our summer. We did everything we could such as going on a Mass Monkey to every village in one night, staying late in the Dining Hall just to cheer random things that make absolutely no sense, bringing the fun to every activity whether we liked it or not, and bonding with our brothers around the fire. The moment we felt our brotherhood was the strongest, was when we had to say goodbye to an important link in our village chain. Everybody in Mohawk gathered around him, crying and cheering as loud as we could. These emotions came out because of our deep affection we have for one another. Happy or sad, we are all one, and we feel each other’s emotions as a unified group.Mohawk is a special place that can’t be explained to an outsider. When we try to explain it to friends at home we can’t seem to find the right words. This is because Mohawk doesn’t have an explanation for all of the things we do. What we do only has meaning in Mohawk. In Mohawk we accept each other for who we are no matter how big or small, athletic or musical, loud or quiet. We all accept each other as brothers. As oldest Mohicans, our time is coming to an end. Even though we will be leaving the village shortly, we will always be a part of the Mohawk brotherhood. We found a path and chose it that led us to leave our legacy behind. Every Mohican can agree that we took that leap of faith and it led us to having the most effective summer of our lives.Andrew R
