In the beginning of the summer everyone was excited for Tusc. But it soon was apparent the village was divided. The boys were still acting like children. We needed to change fast in order to live up the tusc summer. After two weeks with no change, we had a boy's meeting, in an attempt to improve the behavior. Each individual shared what they were doing wrong and how they can work improve themselves. The boys became more accepting of everyone and everything. People started to open up. During lunch one day I was joking with one of my fellow campers, Max, about funny and snobby accents. It grew from there and we made jokes to say in the accents and created a laugh to go along with it. It has been great seeing him open up and show his funny side. Also, I remember in youngest Mohawk, Avery would always practice his trumpet in the morning. Everyone used to find it annoying and couldn't appreciate the beautiful music. Everyone has grown and now we gather around to listen whenever he practices. It's amazing how everyone has grown so much in four weeks. The Tusc experience is transforming us all from children into adults and preparing us all for any challenge. I'm honored to have had the opportunity to get to know the 48 campers and 8 staff in Tuscarora. I'm excited for the next three weeks and I know they will be amazing.
