Tea Time with Tusc

Written July 28th

Tuscarora, as a whole, has many defining moments.  From learning our cheers on the second day to leading the camp into Color War on one of the last days.  There is always something that gives each Tusc its identity.  Today was one of those days.

As the younger campers hugged and said their goodbyes before piling onto the buses that would take them home, Tusc was throwing around a football and catching cheese balls in their months. Why? Because we knew that not only were we not leaving one of the best places on Earth today, but that we knew one of the best days of summer awaited.

Today was not a great day because of the things we did.  While it was fun, and I applaud Mike Patalano for constantly entertaining us with his weird games, but it was because camp was just us.  No campers, no staff, just Tusc, Neil Pickus, Sam Piggot, and Ari.  It was the time when we didn't have to be role models, we didn't have to line up before meals, we didn't have to constantly have our hand raised to quiet the younger kids.  We could just relax.  I think that brought us a little closer, and prepared us for the long trip ahead.  That's why people look forward today.  Today is Tuscarora.
