The campers have finally arrived! After waiting for what felt like forever, it is safe to say that the wait was well worth it!
For those of you who don't already know me, my name is Jamie Wisset. You may also know me as Grandma Jim Jam (my bunk has officially told all of camp to call me that), and I am the S1 activity counselor and drama head specialist.
For the past two summers, I have worked as a youngest Seneca bunk counselor, so I have to admit that I was very nervous to be leading drama periods. One of my biggest fears going into this summer was that I wouldn't get the chance to get to know all of my campers as well as I have in past summers. However, just in 2 days and after leading a full day of drama periods I have been completely reassured that this summer is going to be just as great for me as it has been the past two summers. I know that I will still be able to maintain meaningful relationships with all my camepers.
Yesterday in drama, I got to work with a Mohawk bunk, 2 Onondaga bunks, and both youngest Seneca bunks (one of which was my bunk). You could say I got the best of both worlds. I had the opportunity to branch out and meet some new campers from other villages, but I also got a chance to spend time in drama with my own bunk, which was really special.
This morning, I had a free period, so I got to go with my girls to A&C, where we decorated paper hands that will be going towards a full camp project. It was really fun watching all the girls get so creative.
This afternoon, we are having our first hobby sessions which I am very excited for, and tomorrow our bunk leaves for a camp out.
Although camp has been crazy so far, there is really nothing to complain about. I can't wait to see what else this session will bring us, and I'm so excited to continue meeting new people!
