Today I got back from my first experience of a campout as a staff member. I had the oppurtunity to go on the optional cayuga and onondaga campout. After breakfast we drove to the Cayuga nature center. We split up and went to see the exhibits and expore the trails. Following lunch, we went to the 6 story tree house and let the kids run loose in it. Arriving at the campsite was then followed by setting up tents and other sleeping preparations. We played some games and then split up into 4 crews. The cook crew was responsible for dinner. The clean crew was responsible for cleaning up dinner. Fire crew collected and set up the fire. Journal crew interviewed people about their day's. We ate burritos for dinner and then had s'mores for dessert. after we put the kids to bed I had to deal with a homesick kid for the first time. In the morning, we walked to a pond and taught the kids about ecosystems and plant life.
