First and foremost I would like to apologize for our blog hiatus, times have been very busy in the village of Tuscarora!
Since our last post, a lot has happened. For starters, we put on a phenomenal banquet. The theme was "space" and it was truly out of this world ;). Unlike many banquets of the past, ours was outside on the beautiful waterfront. The rest of camp was very impressed and the Tusc campers felt a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Following the banquet, the rest of the July campers left but we stayed behind to get ready for our trip! I have been a camper in Tusc and a counselor here two years prior so I can say from experience that this year has been one of the best trips.
We ventured to Vermont and enjoyed some time at Bromely Adventure Park nestled into a ski resort. The highlight was the 2/3 mile alpine slide!
The next day we went on a scenic hike up a mountain and concluded the day with a tour of the Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory. So delicious.
Day three began in the town of Burlington where we explored with a picture taking scavenger hunt. We then treated the campers to a viewing of the blockbuster smash, "The Dark Knight Rises." To top off an already perfect day, we ended with a sunset cruise around Lake Champlain.
Day four we left Vermont and went to Massachusetts to check out the Basketball Hall of Fame. Regardless of anyone's love for the game the Museum proved to be entertaining and interesting. The final main event was an O.A.R. concert in Connecticut where danced and sang out little heads off.
Throughout the trip the counselors and I posted many photos on instagram. Be sure to check out @csl_official, #tusctrip.
Since being back in camp, the campers have gotten right back into the swing of things, actively participating in programs and daily activities. The next great event that draws closer is the monumental Color War VI. Each Tuscaroran will have the opportunity to lead their team and really display their individual talents and abilities. We are all very excited and hoping to be on the team that comes out victorious.
Stay tuned as this inevitably great program unfolds into camp history.
All my best,
Lorenn Kassel
