The S Trail has always been a steep slope to conquer. This year Camp Seneca Lake is doing their part to make the S- Trail more manageable and accessible for not only the Senecans but for the entire camp as well.
The S-Trail is the path leading from the village of Seneca to the Waterfront. Whenever there is a big storm, the path becomes flooded, making it difficult to maneuver. Before work began, “there was a drainage system in the middle and it sucked” according to Charlie Barclay, the pool director. “Whenever it rained the path would flood, now with a drainage system on the left side people will still be able to use the trail after a storm”.
Headed by LIT, Corey Ansell, workers dug out the troughs and raked the steps. Chloe Fliescher, a youngest Senecan was working hard on the drainage system, the shovel she was using was taller than she was. When asked if she felt like she was in the movie Holes she replied “I never finished it”.
Jamie Pearson explained how tough the dig was due to the lack of rain this summer. It was then decided to carry water down in a Senecan garbage pail from the hose to wet the dirt, making it easier to dig out. Chloe ran up to grab her pail immediately.
Ansell, the head of not only the S-Trail project but the Waterfront Maintenance as well, kept everything running smoothly, running around to get whatever tools were necessary to finish the project. From the looks of it, everyone is working hard to get the job done.
