The Cayugans began their hobbies today in order to work on a skill this summer that they may not normally have an opportunity to improve. I am working on Junior Sports Zone - a buffet of athletic options for Cayugans and Onandogans . Junior sports zone went very well as our new campers acquainted and veteran ones reacquainted themselves with the athletic cornerstones of camp seneca lake - GaGa, Knockout, and Newcomb - and also cooled off with some pool time.
Later on, the Cayuga village has bunk nights. My bunk, C-6, which we call "C'eal Team 6" learned the importance of "No Man Left Behind" as they sped across camp to find the clues of a scavenger hunt, which resulted in the campers pelting their staff members with water balloons!
As a new staff, who went to boarding school and sleep away camp (unfortunately not CSL), I am beginning to understand the organized chaos that makes this camp so fun for both campers and staff. I have found, more than anything else, that the creative freedom afforded to every member of the community at every level - Cayugan to Office Staff - produces an unparalleled experience for all. I am eager to continue my journey as a Cayugan.
