I told you I'd be back to fill you in! General staff orientation is in its second day and camp already feels like home. Yesterday the entire staff went to the waterfront and boarded a fleet of boats for a mystery adventure! See, the campers aren't the only ones who aren't told where they are headed or what they are about to do. As per usual the mystery ride ended up producing a pretty incredible experience. After our arrival on the shore of a beautiful park, (with an even more beautiful view!) we split up to spend time with our village staff. We, the Tusc staff, were already ahead of the game because we had already had time to bond and go over the usual rules and requirements, so we used this time to get in some really great brainstorming. I'm just saying, you all should be very excited about what is in store for the Tuscarorans because I am so eager to even be a part of it all!
After our time on shore, and then back on the lake, we met at the fire circle because we all know there is nothing better than a good old fashioned Camp Seneca Lake fire. As I looked around the circle I felt proud to be working at a place that is so welcoming to everyone that steps foot in it. I found myself in the second row, right in between two staff members that I spent my Tusc summer with as campers. It was so incredible to know that we had gone through high school and college, we had traveled to different places and met hundreds of new people; but we still had something that had outlasted it all. We had a bond that we formed seven summers ago in the village of Tuscarora.
The days are quickly going by and camp is coming to life. We are preparing as much as we can for you all to get here, the entire staff are so creative, and hardworking - I know the campers will be in the best company. After some quality time and planning the Tusc staff members are on the edges of their seats/benches with the excitement of the campers arriving.
We are waiting for you. Tuscarora is waiting for you. Come earn the village.
