The summer seems to sneak up on us year after year. In the blink of an eye, we exchange our textbooks for stamps and envelopes, our flip flops for crocs (or sexi flops, the new and improved croc, amiright ladies?), and "school friends" for "camp friends" - perhaps the best exchange of them all. And while this all seems to happen so quickly, at the same time this waiting period between the school year and the ever-cherished camp months drags on with anticipation and excitement.
As a third year staff member, I can assure you all that this feeling never goes away. This is my 12th summer at CSL, and I still find myself jittery with excitement and nerves as I pack and prepare for what lies ahead. I am so excited to meet my new campers, as well as new staff members, and I find myself smiling to myself (sometimes at inappropriate times) as I anticipate my first "OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE WE'RE FINALLY HERE" hugs with old friends.
So campers, my only advice you to is get excited (or rather, stay excited) about the summer ahead because I guarantee it will be the best yet. Whether it's your first year or 8th, I promise you will come out of your time at CSL changed for the better. If not, I owe you free canteen.
As for you, parents, prepare to receive letters filled with details of crazy programs, action-filled days, and stories about the people, places and things that fill the borders of Camp Seneca Lake. And don't worry, just in case some details are left out, we'll be here on the blog (as well as on Instagram and Twitter) every step of the way filling in the gaps and showing you the magic that most people just refer to as summer camp.
I could not be more excited to get this summer under way, and am so happy to announce that I will again be the media representative for the village of Seneca. We'll be bringing camp to life via our twitter, @seneca_swag, and I'll be here everyday with updates from campers and staff so you never have to feel like you're missing the fun.
I hope you're ready for us, CSL 2014, because we are so beyond ready for you!!
