My name is Amir Ziskind, and this is my first summer at Camp Seneca Lake. I am one of the fortunate counselors here who come from Israel. I am a C-2 counselor, and am excited to spend my first session here at CSL with them!
Today was our first normal day of the summer. After breakfast, we all went to the waterfront! While there different bunks did different activities including banana boating, tubing, kayaking, sailing, and super sailing. Not only was this some campers first experience at the waterfront, but mine as well. The campers were very excited and happy to be at the waterfront the first full day. Many of the new kids were a little hesitant at first, but became best friends with the lake and all its activities by the end.
After lunch, we came back to the village and wrote some letters. Following that, some bunks went to the pool, while others went to athletics. At the pool, campers were assigned groups with equal ability swimmers where they learned how to improve they're swimming skills. At athletics, the kids played gaga, scatterball, and neucom. These were not Israeli games, so they were quite interesting to me.
After athletics, our unit head Alec took the younger kids to teach them the Cayuga cheers. Now that all are familiar, we will definitely be the loudest in the dinning hall!
All in all, I'm very much enjoying my first couple days at camp, I'm loving the kids I have as they listen very well, and I just hope it can stay like this for the rest of the summer!
