Here's the blog
My name is Jake Henning, and I'm a C-1 activities counselor at athletics this session at camp. This will be my 10th summer at camp, and my first since traveling to Israel with my camp friends last summer.
Camp Seneca Lake has grown up with me through my childhood, and of course we have both changed immensely over a decade. This is my first summer being a staff member, and camp has allowed me to take part in the new Hachshara program.
The Hachshara program allows first time staff members, who are entering 12th grade, to experience what it is like to actually be a counselor. We are assigned bunks and jobs where we are mentored by other more experienced staff, as well as given the opportunity to lead activities.
Words cannot describe how welcoming the current staff members, new and old, have been to myself and my fellow Hachsharas. I have begun to build connections with the new staff members as well as continue to strengthen the bonds between the ones I have known from years past.
I am determined to continue to make this place the greatest on the face of the earth. Are you as ready as I am?
