The Hawk Talks

Hello CSL Families and Friends,

The summer of our lives is almost here! The fun is about to begin! All though the first session does not begin for over a week, there have been many people at CSL the past few weeks. The vibe at Camp has been amazing and there seems to be something special in the air. From senior staff to foreign staff, the people at Camp right now have constantly been getting after it.

This will be my eighteenth summer at CSL and first as Mohawk Unit Head. I started coming to CSL in 1997 as a youngest Cayugan and continued on through Senior Camper summer in 2004. Since then I have been a CIT, bunk counselor, worked in programming, and been Cayuga Unit Head. Passing the torch of the Cayugan village on to Alec Jacobson, I couldn't be more excited to lead the village of Mohawk this summer.

This past year I decided to go back to school and earn a Master’s Degree in education at Brockport. I am half way through my program and will continue with it next Fall. During the year I also spent time coaching Brighton Basketball and working with Monroe BOCES.

Mohawk has many things in store for this summer. The campers should expect a lot, and expectations should be high. The staff looks to be as promising as ever and the programs as epic as can be. We have a lot we are hoping to accomplish this summer as a village. One of our main goals is to provide the Mohican campers a safe and enriching environment in which they can be themselves. Mohawk is an important time in the lives of our male campers because they begin to explore their personalities. Each camper brings a different trait to the village, and when we unite, something powerful is created.

Following the summer, you can expect your Mohican to be the same as when you dropped him off… however, he may be smarter, stronger, more confident, and more independent than you remember!

For all campers, not just Mohicans, thank you for choosing CSL. This is truly is a special place. It is going to be an amazing summer for everyone and especially us in Mohawk!

Sincerely,
Max Krieger
