Hawk Talk

It's been three summers since my last year at CSL. Three years that have been a stark difference to the six previous where summer camp was a constant mainstay in my life. In those six years of camp I had my ups and my downs. I had more socially awkward moments than I can count, and made more friendships than I ever thought possible. I had wonderful times and times I want to forget, but the one thing that was always constant here was personal advancement. I grew up at CSL.

Every summer getting off of the bus in late August, leaving camp behind for the next ten months, I remember always having the feeling of personal growth. This is what made camp worthwhile for me, more than anything else. Being away for three years I have missed that feeling. Being here as a staff member I know I have new responsibilities and  I am expected to act differently than I did as a camper. I am prepared to do so. However, what I am not prepared to do is do declare myself a man and close myself off to the change that camp invokes. I am still growing up, still in the process of developing myself and the thing I am looking forward to more than MNL games, more than cheering in the dining hall, even more than this years inevitably epic Color War, is seeing what growth I can continue to achieve at the place I call home.
