My name is Kaden, and I'm new to CSL this year. I will be working in Mohawk as a bunk counselor, and I'm really looking forward to meeting my campers soon! For staff orientation we've been doing all sorts of fun activities in preparation for an awesome summer here at camp. I have attended so many meetings and events since arriving that I can't even count them all.
Last night, though, we had our Mohawk village night, and it has been one of the most enjoyable of our events yet.
First we went to the bowling alley in Penn Yan and played a couple of games. We ate huge sheets of cheese pizza and all had fun. Some of the Mohawk staff had interesting bowling styles: launching the ball through the air and fishing gutter balls out to retry shots were some of the funniest.
Then we drove from the bowling alley and everyone was excited when we pulled into Walmart. Cans of Pringles and packs of Mountain Dew were hurriedly thrown into carts to stock up for the weeks to come. I personally bought things I had forgotten to bring; my new flashlight will help me make it back to the village at night, and the poncho I purchased will be useful in the rain.
After everyone was done shopping we drove back to camp and sung around the fire pit. I was excited to see this morning that we have future staff events scheduled just like this one. It is awesome getting to know all of my fellow staff!
