CSL Adds Two More Key Pieces for 2014

Dear CSL Community:

Fellow Tusc 2009 campers, Ally Roos, and Cameron Robinson, are both joining the Programming Staff for 2014.  Each will serve as Assistant Program Directors in different areas.  Ally will work to support a variety of pieces, specifically evening programs, the Hobby Program, and Judaic Programming.  Cameron will take on a new role in the expanding media realm.

Originally from Sharon, Massachusetts, Ally is a second generation CSLer.  She graduated from Sharon High School in 2012 and matriculated to the University of Massachusetts (Amherst) as a part of the Commonwealth Honors College.  She is pursuing a double degree in Communication and Political Science.  Growing up at CSL, Ally has worked in Seneca and Arts & Crafts over the last three summers.

Cameron hails from Pittsford New York and graduated from Mendon High School in 2012.  He then went on to the Rochester Institute of Technology specifically to pursue his passions in media design.  His focuses are in film and editing, website and application coding, as well as 3D modeling and motion graphics.  He is pursuing a career in this field and relishes the opportunity to continue the growth of this department at CSL.  Cameron will be responsible for the day-to-day integration and execution of media and video in CSL programs and communication efforts.  As someone who grew up at CSL and has been a counselor in Mohawk the last three years, Cameron’s expertise on camp will serve particularly well.

With these appointments, the Programming Staff for 2014 is very close to complete.  We are still looking to hire our full-time videographer.

I spoke to the growth of the Programming staff in a previous announcement in terms of its necessity and importance from a camp-wide standpoint.  It should be noted that much of the Programming Staff has worked in counselor and specialist positions at CSL over the years and the willingness of our Directors to expand in this realm has allowed us to be able to keep some of our stronger, older staff who aren’t quite old enough to be Unit Heads.  We are thrilled to have Ally and Cameron in Programming but even more excited to be able and keep them at CSL.

As you can probably tell by now, the overall CSL staff is beginning to fill out.  We are just about at the half-way point in the year between the two summers.  Yet it is interesting to note that for years and years, much of the CSL staff would be getting hired well into the Spring and campers would be getting enrolled as well.  Times have undoubtedly changed with no camper slots left for either session and most staff slots filled.  And it is not even February.

All The Best,

Ari Baum, Assistant Director & Program Director
