Jake Massa returns to Tuscarora for 2014

Dear CSL Community:

It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Jake Massa as a Tusc Counselor for the 2014 summer.  Jake is the first official counselor hire for what will be the largest Tusc group in the 35 year history of the village dating back to its inception in 1980.  Jake has grown up at CSL along with his older and younger brothers.  He was a Tusc camper in 2009, LIT in 2010, then a Cayuga counselor in 2011.  Since that time, he has served as the Assistant Program Director, working in a variety of capacities on the macro-level.  He is very excited to get back to more daily camper contact as a counselor.

Originally from Pittsford, New York, Jake moved to Basking Ridge in 2002 during his early CSL years.  This allowed him to keep close contact with some of his Rochester friends.  He graduated from Ridge High School in 2012 then matriculated to Rutgers University that Fall.  At Rutgers, he is a Chemical Engineering Major.

Jake has taken a somewhat unconventional path to being a Tusc counselor but brings a tremendously unique skillset from his time working in Programming.

“Since my first year at CSL, I have looked up to Tusc.  The way they cheer in the Dining Hall, push themselves during Triathlon, and the way they lead camp during major programs has always inspired me.  During my time in Programming, I have seen how this village deeply affects every camper and staff member at CSL.  There is no better place to be.  I am thrilled to be a part of Tuscarora 2014 and am very much looking forward to the summer.”

We are excited to have Jake a part of Tusc this coming summer and anxiously are counting down the days.

Sincerely,
Ari Baum, Assistant Director & Tusc Program Coordinator
