As many of you know, the oldest campers have been working on the new space for Saturday services as their Tikkun Olam project. Today, these projects were finally completed!
We got to work right after breakfast. The campers were placed at different projects like bench building, sculpture-making, or gardening, just to name a few. We worked so hard all morning until lunch, when we had a delicious cookout, complete with banana boats for dessert. The afternoon was also filled with hard work, but almost every project was complete by 4.
This is what I love about camp -- at 8 this morning, the new service space was just a big empty space that looked lonely and deserted, but by 4 this afternoon, it was full of benches, decorations, and even a Bima. We all came together to make something incredible, and the finished product is something we will forever be proud of. While our work benefits the entire camp and the future generations of camp, no one else can say they built it, which is really cool from a staff and camper perspective.
Every camper and staff member who was involved put 110% in today, and I could not be prouder. These are the things that make camp so special -- no one had to breathe down necks to force people to work, rather, everyone worked because they wanted to contribute and they wanted to be a part of something that would change camp forever.
We are so lucky to be surrounded by such amazing and hard working people here at CSL, and we are so grateful that you continue to send your kids to us each summer! They are truly making a difference and leaving their mark on camp.
