Dear CSL Families:
My apologies for the lack of communication from me in the
last 12 days since the summer began but as you have hopefully seen (on the
blog, twitter, instagram, facebook, etc.), things have been extremely busy
here. It feels like we have been
here much longer than 12 days with all that has been happening – just watching
the First Day video, I barely recognize some of the campers in it!
Things have been gradually building each hour and being a teacher
by trade, that is exactly the way I prefer it. Fight Song prep (competition is July 21st) to the
camp-wide Tikkun Olam project to develop a new community area for Saturday
Shabbat services (starting July 26th) to Hobbies (currently in their
fourth session as I write this)…there is a lot happening. Campstock takes place tomorrow evening
and of course Visiting Day on Sunday with tons coming during the second half of
the session – Fight Song, Tikkun Olam, Mass Program, Village Days, and so much
more.
The highlight of the summer thus far came last night during
the Second Annual CSL Run (also called CSL Tikkun O’Run) that resulted in $2600
being raised for four charities (details available in many other blog posts
over the last day). Every camper
and staff member ran laps around one of the three designated tracks, raising
between 1-5 cents with each lap.
Clearly, all those laps added up!
The support of families and alumni certainly accounted for a huge part
of our total figure, demonstrating once again just how special the CSL
community is. In truth, we raised
$1300 and an extremely generous donor (who prefers to remain anonymous) came
forward to match that total at the end of the evening.
When we were wrapping up the night following the run, the ‘make
your own burrito’ cookout, and staff charity basketball game under the lights,
I really did not know what to say.

whole.
Please continue to follow us in the various outlets we are producing
hourly content. There are tons of
photos being uploaded and not just on bunk1. The Camp Seneca Lake Facebook page has over 100 photos added
each day (usually 3-4 times a day) that are different from what is going to
bunk1. The same is the case with
Instagram (@csl_official). AND
