The Sound and Stomp Beat

Hello parents and friends of CSL!

My name is Alec Jacobson and I am a C-2 bunk counselor, as well as a staff member in the new, Sound and Stomp hobby group! This all new hobby group, in my eyes, is the premier hobby of August 2012, and I, along with the other staff members of Neal Richardson, Charlie Landsman, David Jevotovsky, Rachel Rosenbaum, and Audrey Jacobson have been working incredibly hard to make this hobby the best new addition to CSL. Yesterday marked the second hobby meeting of this session, and boy was it eventful. One of our main projects, as envisioned by Charlie and Neal, was to perform a stomp routine during a meal time with plates, pitchers, cups, and other various table accessories. Yesterday, we got after it and finished this incredible composition. It starts out with myself, along with Miranda Weiss and Amy Wagner, creating quarter notes by banging on the table, and it is then followed by an intricate cup routine. Next, the pitchers come in, followed by a quick rhythm with the silverware and then some plates in a groovy beat. The beat then slowly evolves into an entirely new composition, keeping the listener intrigued throughout the piece's entirety. All of the staff was amazed that we pulled the whole thing together in just one hobby session, and it sounds absolutely amazing. We plan on performing it tonight during dinner before the Birkat, but shhhhhhhh, it's a secret! We can't wait to see the camp's reaction to this sensational stomp routine.
With a little time to spare in the hobby session, we then started working on a step dance. This is something that the girls love performing, so we plan on giving the kids most of the creative liberties with regards to this piece. Although we only had about 20 minutes to work on it, we created a sweet walk-in that will certainly drop jaws.
We have many more productions in the making, and this hobby group will undoubtedly be the highlight of Campstock August 2012 in a dozen or so days. Glow paint and a whole slew of incredible instruments are about to be unveiled, so get ready CSL! Sound and stomp is here and and ready to amaze.

For now,
Alec Jacobson (C-2 bunk counselor)
