FIGHT SONG IS TONIGHT!

Last year marked the beginning of an extraordinary new CSL tradition - FIGHT SONG.  During the course of my four summers as Program Director it became increasingly clear that we needed to better distinguish the programming in the July session from that of the August session.  As Color War emerged as a major fixture of August, we spent a lot of time determining how to find its match for July.  We found it in 2011 and it has become even more clear in the last few days leading up to this evening's performances.
After the Inaugural Fight Song last year, we also determined a number of ways to improve the experience in future years.  Unit Heads were far more organized this year, ensuring that each village had their Fight Songs written before the campers even arrived, which allowed the last three weeks to be dedicated exclusively to learning and rehearsing the songs and dances.
As exciting and competitive as Fight Song has become in the last two years, this program is about something far deeper than what will appear on the surface this evening.  The campers and staff of each village working together on a central, creative cause throughout the session has allowed them to become closer while further appreciating the values of team and working toward common goals.  This is not an easy dimension to intregrate in a community whose members range from 8 to 28 years old so it further highlights how special Fight Song is.
Normal periods in the morning and then Fight Song Prep in the afternoon and then the long-awaited performances tonight.  Stay tuned...
