Memoirs From a Mohican

Hey everyone!

Last night and today have been pretty relaxing for camp. It's Shabbat, so it was nice last night to have a delicious Shabbat dinner, go to services at the fire circle, and then have a dance at the O-Rec. This morning we had a late sleep-in, breakfast in the village, morning services, and then Shabbat Swim, which is a newly-appointed time after morning services when the entire camp gathers at the pool/athletics area and has an opportunity to relax and socialize before lunch. It went well, and the campers seemed to enjoy it. After lunch each Mohawk bunk had a discussion with the Seneca bunk of the same age about this week's Torah portion. The discussions went really well, and the campers contributed excellent comments and were very engaged. After the discussions we had an extended rest hour and then Shabbat choice, both of which were very relaxing.

This Shabbat was an especially important one for Mohawk because we led services this week. Many campers wrote and shared pieces that related to our theme of puzzle, and others helped lead prayers and songs, all of which contributed to making the services very meaningful and distinctly Mohican. Overall, Shabbat has gone very well, and it afforded us the much-deserved rest that we needed after such a busy week. Thanks for reading, and we'll post again tomorrow!
