Even though it just ended a few days ago, it feels like a long time since the July Session ended. This is symbolic in that I have found the two sessions are strikingly different from one another. One is not better or worse than the other, but they are just different. The kids are different, the vibe amongst the staff is different, and the program itself is undoubtedly different. In fact, distinguishing the two sessions from one another programmatically has been one of the top priorities during our tenure. This has been a long road, but an important one as we continue our pursuit of being the premier camp of this kind in North America.
After getting its start in 2010, the CSL Blog has really taken off this summer to the point where we were getting over 5000 hits a day in latter stages of the July Session! It is jam-packed with content aimed at informing everyone not fortunate enough to physically at CSL about what is happening. Here’s what you should expect to see on the Blog:
- Daily columns from two of our programmers, Marc Field and Jake Massa, on the daily happenings around camp
- A daily photo summary from our camp photographer, Neil Pickus; a complete collection of photos taken at camp can be found at bunk1.com
- The period-by-period schedule for each bunk will be posted each morning so you can see what your campers are doing that day
- Daily entries from each of the six villages, under the respective direction of our six PR Liaisons, Alec Jacobson (Cayuga), Ellie Paparone (Onondaga), Andy Powers (Mohawk), Sarah Levy (Seneca), Lorenn Kassel (Tuscarora), and Jamie Pearsen (Oneida); these entries will include the perspectives from both staff and campers
- Weekly entries from the Unit Heads and Assistant Unit Heads to get you up to speed on the general happenings in each village
- Frequent entries from me on major programming initiatives
- Various announcements and entries from the other directors of camp as well
- Tons more including more experiments with live audio and video feeds of major camp events!
There is a ton in store for the session including Hobbies, Israel Day, Rick Recht, Village Cookouts, Village Days, Dance Marathons, Shabbat Dances, and of course COLOR WAR V! We are extremely excited to begin the August Session and look forward to sharing as much as we can with you.
