Lederman Legacy Continues

Dear CSL Community:

It is with great pleasure that I announce the hiring of Jilly Lederman as the CSL 2014 Arts and Crafts Head Specialist.  CSL has been part of Jilly’s life for many decades.  She’s been a camper, counselor, Unit Head (Seneca), Program Director (4 times) and has served as our Arts and Crafts Head Specialist since 2004. Jilly has helped redefine our Arts program and is beloved by campers and staff.  Under her leadership A&C has added several new crafts and projects ranging from Ceramics to learning about color pallets.  She also hasn’t let her programming experience go to waste as she’s been an important asset to the programming team for the last several years.

Jilly has an undergraduate degree in Journalism from the Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University and a Master's and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. She holds two current teaching licenses for the state of Massachusetts: one in Elementary Education and one in Moderate Disabilities (Special Ed).
During the non-summer months, Jilly teaches math and history to middle schoolers at Berkshire Country Day School. She also serves as the coordinator for the B'nai Tzedek Youth Foundation for Berkshire County. In 2009, she won the Grinspoon Award for Teaching Excellence (state of MA) as well as the Grinspoon-Steinhardt Award for Teaching Excellence (national award).

“Camp Seneca Lake has been the single greatest influence on me as both a parent and as an educator. I"ve been at camp now on and off for 4 decades! CSL is where I honed my teaching skills as a teen and as a college student; as a teacher for 25 years, I can trace my first leadership experience to a program that I wrote as a senior camper in 1984. CSL is also where I met my husband, the one and only Jewish boy I ever dated! And CSL is the summer home of my children who have grown up at camp since they were little. My son Colby took his first steps in the dirt outside the dining hall. I am so excited to be back for yet another summer!”

CSL is lucky and thrilled to have Jilly return to CSL in 2014.

All the Best,
Aaron Cantor, Director
