Swim the Lake Local

Today we had another great session in our Swim the Lake hobby group. We began with some sprints on the basketball court, which served as both a warm up and a calf muscle workout. We then moved on to some treading in the pool in order to get accustomed to being in the water for extended periods of time - today everyone managed to tread for fifteen minutes! Next, we moved into the lanes to work on some technical aspects of our swimming. We began by learning how to do front crawl and breaststroke turns correctly. We then put these into practice by swimming fifty yards of both strokes. It was really encouraging to see how much each person had improved by the end of the exercise. Finally for the pool session we did some high intensity front crawl sprints. Everyone managed to swim ten sets of twenty-five yards repeating on forty seconds, which was very impressive! Finally we did a seven-minute abdominal workout which brought to an end another rewarding session of Swim the Lake. Well done everyone!
