Hi parents!
I'm Isaac Messina and I'm a C-3 activity counselor this summer, splitting my time between my bunk and the Craft Shack. I'm going into my third year at Syracuse University next year, studying art history and chemistry to one day (hopefully) be an art conservator. This is my eleventh summer at camp.
Today was another exciting day here on Seneca Lake. The Cayugan campers all began the day at the waterfront enjoying today's beautiful weather! In the afternoon, the C-1 campers joined us up at arts and crafts for a special project. The period began with each camper designing their own dreidel. With markers, the campers individualized their wooden tops, naming them with warrior names, to be used at the end of the period in the exciting Driedel Arena.
After, we surprised the youngest Cayugans with an ice cream making day. Placing a bag of cream, sugar, and vanilla into a larger bag of ice and salt the bags were ready for shaking. We played some Katy Perry as the campers danced and shook the bags to freeze the cream! Three or four songs later, the ice cream was ready and we all enjoyed a cold snack on this hot day!
The day continued until dinner, which was delicious enchiladas. The evening program was combined with Onondaga which turned into quite the sight on the Mohawk field. The evening ended with each camper covered in paint head to toe after and all out paint war. The campers then went down to the lake to take a dip and clean off all the paint. One more plus about this amazing program is that it ensured each camper had to shower! Who said Cayugans never shower?!
Until next time,
Isaac Messina
