From Your Directors...

There’s nothing quite like the anticipation of a summer under the sun and here we are, mere days away from the 84th summer at Camp Seneca Lake. The excitement has been building at Camp for the last two weeks as all of our staff have been working to prepare for the arrival of the campers. Everywhere we look, staff are training and planning for the arrival of our Session 1 campers.

We are often asked what we’re looking forward to the most; that is honestly the most difficult question to answer. Yes, it could be easy to say everything, but it’s more than that. In a matter of four (and eight) weeks, 250 campers and 130 staff are going to be working together to accomplish some extraordinary things. Everyone will participate in hobbies and develop new skills and hone old ones, ultimately working toward Hobby Culmination Day on July 25th when we get to see, first hand, the growth and development of each and every one of our campers. We love watching the play, greeting campers as they finish swimming the lake, tasting the fine cuisine at Pit Cooking, and of course watching the rockets built blast to new heights.

We haven’t even touched upon the many moments of pure enthusiasm and energy. From cheers in the dining hall, mass programs, village nights, and sporadic moments of village unity it’s impossible to describe in words what it feels like to watch a group of kids, do something in unison.

This summer will be full of accomplishments and great moments for everyone, staff and campers. We are glad to have a front row seat and are excited to be able to share as much with you as possible through our blog.

John and Aaron.
