CSL 2011 BLOG IS NOW LIVE

It is time.

In just a couple of days you will be saying good-bye to your sons and daughters while we anxiously await their arrival on the other end. While CSL has changed a great deal over my 20 years here, its core feeling remains identical. It is this aura and spirit around which we hope every moment of camp circulates this coming summer.

For years, parents were often in the dark about what their kids were doing at camp. Although letter writing days have long been present (Mondays and Thursdays), the consistency of depth from the campers was never exactly reliable. We do certainly hope your kids are telling you everything they are doing here but beginning last summer, we felt it was necessary to supplement those letters about the daily happenings at CSL. As such, even in a place that does not fully embrace 21st century technology, we began our attempts at bridging this information gap in the form of a blog on our website.

Last summer you were able to see the daily schedule and a healthy potpourri of entries from staff and campers, illuminating the daily activity of CSL. This summer, it is our goal to build upon this solid foundation. Here is what you can expect to view on the blog:

-Daily columns from three members of the Programming Team, Sonia Kreitzer, Carrie Evans, and Neil Pickus
-Daily entries from each of the six villages covering relevant news from the perspectives of both staff and campers
-Weekly contributions from our Judaic Educator, Joy Newman, covering the program and summarizing Shabbat Services, including her weekly D’Var Torah
-Frequent thoughts shared with you from various staff members on their own camp experiences and bringing you up to speed on what they are doing at CSL
-Program updates on major camp events and activities
-Updates from the directors of camp on general reminders and up-to-date info on CSL

It is our goal to be uploading content onto the blog on a regular basis each and every day for your viewing satisfaction. Content from villages and our columnists will begin in Earnest this coming Monday so let your kids know they can begin being a part of the excitement before they even get on the buses (or in the cars). Feel free to send us your comments, questions, and feedback at cslprogramming@jccrochester.org. Thanks very much and we can’t wait to see your kids on Wednesday.

Your Program Director,
Ari Baum
