Stories With Seneca

Last night was the start of Shabbat for the 2014 August session. It started off as usual, with Marilyn's famous Shabbat dinner with soup, meat and mashed potatoes. When it came time for the service, a lot of my friends spoke because Onondaga and Seneca were leading the entire Shabbat service. The theme of this week was "every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end."

This means that all of the speakers gave speeches that related to this theme, or that related to a change that occurs when something ends and something new begins from that. It was so interesting to listen to all of my bunkmates' interpretation of what this theme means and how they relate to it.

We sang the prayers and it made me happy to be back at camp and singing all of the prayers and tunes that I know so well. When the service was over, all of the younger campers went back to their villages and all of us older campers attended the "Matzo Ball" or the Friday night dance. It was my first dance and I was so excited because I had heard so much about it. I had an amazing time and can't wait until next Shabbat!
