Red Hot Report: View From The Top

The TOP 8 Themes of Color War, as told by Red.

8.) Teamwork
In order to accomplish any challenge during Color War, you need all members of the team to work together toward the common goal. Teamwork is essential to the success of the team, not only in specific events, but throughout the duration of the program, as well.

7.) Communication
Without communication, we would not be able to work together or understand how to progress forward in Color War. We all have to know what's going on at any given moment in order to be one cohesive team, rather than many small groups.

6.) Dedication
Dedication in Color War not only means to be dedicated to your team as a whole, but also to be dedicated to every single event, whether big or small.

5.) Hard Work
To put it simply, Color War is not an easy program. Every event demands full focus and full participation, leaving no time to slack off. While sometimes it seems impossible to complete a given task, it is important to remember that we cannot win unless every single member of the team is working their hardest towards the finish line.

4.) Pushing Past Limits
During Color War, often times we are put into situations that don't seem possible. However, it is imperative for team members to step out of their comfort zones and push past their limits to achieve greatness. People of Steel is a great example of this, where older campers, younger campers, and staff members all have the opportunity to exhibit just how far they are willing to go, and how far they can push themselves.

3.) Trying New Things
Whether it's athletics, dances, or creative events, everyone at some point throughout Color War will try something new. Everyone on the team must be part of an event, and even if someone may not originally think their role is feesible, in the end, Color War is an opportunity to take on a new challenge, step out of the box, and try something new.

2.) Leadership
One of the most important components of success, is having people who can effectively and competently lead the group. If there is not a clear voice of leadership, the team cannot succeed. Younger campers are always looking up to older campers and staff, and Color War is a great opportunity for the older campers to positively influence the attitudes of the younger campers and help them get excited about everything. Tusc has an especially significant role in Color War, because not only must they be good role models to the rest of camp, but they are also pushed to their capacity as leaders in events.

1.) Believing in the Team
Whether you end up winning or losing the program, believing in your team is the most important thing. If team members believe they can win, and believe they can pick themselves back up when they lose an event, they will be able to preservere through the program and continue toward the ultimate goal.
