Onondaga Day!

This morning, the O-1, O-2, and O-3 girls woke up to the voices of the oldest Onondagans, yelling, "Wake up Onondaga, it's Onondaga day!" Then the oldest girls ran into our cabins and got everyone out of bed and excited for the day to come. On Onondaga day, we leave the boundaries of camp but we bring along the spirit and fun of Onondaga. We board the busses and though the staff know the itinerary, the girls experience genuine surprise and delight as we pull into each destination. Today we went bowling, then ate sandwiches in the party room at an awesome bounce house place. The girls and staff alike all ran around and raced through the bounce houses and up and down the inflatable slides. Then we all got ice cream at Gannon's Isle (we got to choose any flavor we wanted!) and then to top it off, we went roller skating. We even played red light green light, wearing shoes with wheels! That's hard to do! Back at camp, the staff served the girls pasta and we all ate together, gazing at the gorgeous view of our lake. After changing into pajamas, we headed over to the o-rec and watched Despicable Me! The girls are exhausted in the best way, and will certainly sleep well tonight, dreaming of their adventures with their fellow Onondaga sisters. O-Day is a special treat that allows us to come together as a village: the silliest, craziest, and honestly the most fun group of people you'll ever meet.
