Last summer, I stood in Tuscarora, surrounded by platform tents and teenage campers with which I loved working. That summer was nothing shy of phenomenal, but those two months spent in Tuscarora, I couldn't help but miss the village where I spent my last three years as a counselor. I longed for the 'Uge, a village of high energy and passion for life unlike any other. I longed to be part of the village where it's the norm to yell 'Uge after each of Ari's sentences in the dinning hall and canteen is more than just few candy, it's a way of life. I longed to be back in Cayuga where roofball is the sport of choice and the kids don't mind bug juice mustaches or not showering for days on end.
There is simply nothing better than hanging out with you all, the Cayugan campers and staff, day in and day out. Every time I enter the village, I can't help but feel like a little kid again. All of you Cayugan cubs have reenergized me and made me realize how simple and beautiful life can be. There are few things better than watching Adam become the AUH and carry around a backpack far larger than him when I take a day off. There are few things better than seeing Josh speak so confidently in the fight song promo video or seeing Michael score his first ever CHL goal. There is simply nothing better than watching the Cayuga boys crack up on the bus ride back home from Cayuga Day as Eli Schwartz cleans up a mess and hail thunders down on the bus top. That moment to me is so Cayuga, so simple and sweet and blissful. One Cayugan in particular has demonstrated these values and this love for CSL characteristic of our village. We have chose Eli to speak on behalf if the Cayuga Village.
