Programming Staff Re-Appointment for 2014

Dear CSL Community:

It is with great pleasure that I announce the hiring of Neil Pickus as the CSL 2014 Director of Media and Associate Program Director.  Neil has grown up in the camp environment, spending his camper and initial staffing years at Camp Chingachgook before arriving at CSL in 2011.  This will be Neil’s fourth summer in Programming at CSL.  He dramatically elevated the scope of photography at camp and has done the same in his direction of all social media and the blog.  Neil also took over day-to-day leadership of the Hobby Program in 2012.  Neil also played a pivotal role in the emergence of video production at CSL over the last two summers.  All the while, he has been one of the most active staff members in connecting with the campers, especially the Senior Campers.  He will continue in all of these capacities in 2014 and take on more daily responsibility in other aspects of the daily CSL program as well.

Neil grew up in Saratoga Springs, New York and graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 2008.  He went to study at SUNY New Paltz, earning a BFA in Sculpture in 2012.  Despite not growing up at a Jewish camp, Neil’s Judaism runs deep.  He served as a teaching assistant at Temple Sinai in Saratoga and served as President for a local Jewish youth organization as well (SCiTSY).
Neil serves in a variety of capacities during the year including his work in re-designing the CSL website, blog, and other social media resources.  He is preparing for graduate school for education.

“Once again, I am excited to be a part of CSL, and of Programming.  The growth I’ve seen at CSL in my time is a huge factor for my continuing to come back each summer.  I feel strongly that we are pushing the limits of what we, or any other overnight camp for that matter, are capable of doing and I am really looking forward to see what heights we reach in 2014.”

We are certainly thrilled and honored to have Neil back with us at CSL and Programming in 2014.

All The Best,
Ari Baum, Assistant Director & Program Director
