2014 Judaic Director and Associate Program Director Announcement

Dear CSL Community:

It is with great pleasure that I announce the hiring of David Jevotovsky as the CSL 2014 Judaic Educator and Associate Program Director.  David has grown up with CSL and Judaism as his definitive roots.  Originally hailing from Rochester, NY, David has been a part of the CSL community since 2003 when he was a Cayugan camper.  He was a Tusc camper in 2009 and has worked on the staff since 2011 as a Mohawk counselor, most recently in 2013 as the Assistant Unit Head.

David started his formal education at the Hillel Day School in Rochester and eventually moved over to the Brighton schools, graduating from Brighton High School in 2012.   He has been intimately involved with the United Synagogue Youth (USY) for many years and eventually became the regional President in 2011.  He also has had a great deal of involvement with Temple Beth-El and the Jewish Federation.  Currently in his sophomore year at Emory University, David is a Human Health Major and English Minor.  He is also a member of the Alpha Episilon Pi Fraternity.

David is excited to work toward integrating Jewish values within the daily CSL experience for all members of the community. In addition to his responsibilities with Judaica periods and organizing Shabbat services, David will take the lead on all creative efforts related to major programs and special events during the course of the summer.

“It was my Senior Camper year that I really started getting involved in and passionate about Judaica and Programming at camp, and it has only grown in my time as a staff member.  So I am very excited to be able to work in a capacity that allows for direct work in both areas.  I can’t wait to really focus my energy on something I really love at camp, knowing it has the potential to impact the summers of not just the kids in my bunk but of everyone in the camp community.  By working in both Programming and Judaica, it is also my hope that I can help expand the Tikkun Olam program and curriculum that has developed so much over the years.”

We are certainly thrilled and honored to have David back with us at CSL in 2014.

All The Best,
Ari Baum, Assistant Director & Program Director
