Tea Time with Tusc

I never truly understood Color War until I experienced it as a Tusc camper.  Being a July session camper, we always had mass program, which doesn't even compare to color war.

This summer we were given the opportunity to lead the camp, through competitions and events.  Our village was separated into the 2 teams (red and blue) for 48 hours.  Being a tusc camper, we helped break the program to the camp, which made us feel a part of something bigger than ourselves.  I was on the Red team and competed in the water polo best of 7 series and the showdown dance.  I learned that even if you don't win, trying your hardest and putting everything you have into the program counts just as much.  Throughout the program every time the Red team won something it was because we were successful as a team.  For me, experiencing these victories helped me find that extra gear that pushed me to try my hardest at something I maybe didn't want to do.  By the end of the long 2 days, we were prepared to find out the winner, by the color of fireworks that exploded above our heads.  When blue fireworks erupted, sadness washed over me.  But I was happy for my best friends on the other team that got to experience the deserving victory and was proud of how much we all pushed ourselves.
