Stories With Seneca

Just moments ago history was made in the village of Seneca. SSL, Seneca Soccer League, was abolished and a new, secret league titled "TML" was born.

After being woken up by counselors clad in all-black, the Senecans walked in 2 straight lines to the field behind the O-Rec, where a small ceremony took place. The oldest girls held their TML candles with pride, as AUH Ally Roos officially instated the new league.

TML consists of 5 teams, each complied from a mix of oldest, middle, and youngest girls. Tomorrow, the girls will officially break up into their teams and complete their first period of TML. This league does not just focus on athleticism or creativity, rather the girls as a whole. The challenges will range from athletic events, to creative events, to spiritual events, and these challenges will give the Senecans opportunities to grow and learn about not only themselves, but each other as well.

The girls will not learn what TML stands for until they are staff members. Unlike SSL, the acronym "TML" is to be kept a secret. Not only does this add the element of mystery, but it also keeps the league sacred and individual to the village of Seneca.

It has definitely been an eventful night for all of us in Seneca, but I can absolutely guarantee that this is not a night these girls will forget. Tonight, all 71 Senecans made history, and a new legacy was born. Not many 12-14 year olds can say that they have been a part of something of this caliber, but the ladies of August Seneca 2013 definitely can and should be proud of this moment. I cannot wait to see what happens in our league period tomorrow, and am so excited to have been a part of such an amazing moment in CSL history.

It is my hope and expectation that TML will live on, and I feel so lucky that I am able to be a part of this league, and this village.

Best,
Jilli Underberg, S-5 counselor
