After a productive morning at hobbies, 0-5 had a time with Jane and Allison period. After writing letters to each other, we snuck into Cayuga, snagging some seaweed on the way. After constantly clamoring for a chance to prank our Cayugan counterparts, my girls had a fantastic time realizing their well planned out dream. Then we headed over to athletics and played it cool while C-5 walked by. After athletics we got ready for Shabbat. Shabbat is always one of my favorite parts of camp. The routine of Friday night has changed little in years, making it a familiar security blanket (despite the chilly August winds). The speeches at this service were some of the finest I have had the pleasure of hearing at camp. While I felt a sharp pang of sadness knowing that this is our last Shabbat of the summer, I felt a strange sense of satisfaction in the sadness. When something like camp is so hard to say goodbye to, we know that it means something. This summer, camp has been the best it has ever been, but it has not reached its peak yet. Every year can only get better.
