The objective of Inferno Race was simple, put out the other teams fire. However, something was slightly off in the atmosphere. The challenge was reminiscent of last years color war balloon popping race. For Inferno Race, the Cayugans would collect kindling for the fire, the Mohicans would transfer logs to the fire builders from canoes stationed waist-deep in the lake, etc. Just like last year. The only changes were that Seneca and Onondaga transferred water in cups and buckets to their Tusc campers, whose objective was to put out the other teams blazing fire. This obviously carried a great weight with it because of the Red Team's crushing lost at the nearly identical event last year. The event began, and once the rope above the Blue Team's fire snapped, the Tusc campers began to launch a barrage of water balloons and other miscellaneous water things at the fires. There was a desperate rush by the Red Team to regain their hurt pride from last years competition. However, no such luck. Amid all of the screaming staff and campers and chaos, the Blue Team's throws extinguished the red fire, and the challenge was won for the Blue Team. The Blue shouts of glee and cheers diverged with the bitter faces of Red. The tension was increased, and as a result the Best-of-7 events following Inferno Race were as intense as ever.

Color War 7: Sunday Night
After dinner each team sent groups of able campers and staff off to the intellectual events of the evening. Although these events were considerably calmer in comparison to the high-strung excitement of the morning and afternoon, there was an all around vibe that something big would happen soon. While observing these crafty and brainy events, one could sense the tension. At the spelling bee, strained faces were all around. Each person knew that in only a short amount of time, these fairly laid-back events would give way to a huge program. Inferno Race.
