Dear CSL Families:
On August 1st, 1992 I came to CSL for the first
time. I was a camper in C1 and my
counselors were Adam “Bogus” Feuerstein and Josh Grant. I have been to camp every single session
since I arrived that day but today, exactly 21 years later, things really came
full circle for me.
During lunch in the midst of the pandemonium, the Cayuga Unit
Head Max Krieger approached me to say that he had a camper with a birthday
today. Just about every day a Unit Head
or counselor comes to tell me this just to ensure that I properly recognize the
birthday during the daily lunch announcements.
I asked Max the camper’s name. He said it is Oliver and it is his first day
ever at camp. Then he said his father
used to be the Ropes Course Director.
Having been here all these years, I am seeing more and more children of
former staff that I knew so I naturally responded by asking Oliver’s last
name. He didn’t know so I went into the
kitchen to look at the birthday calendar and it said “August 1st:
Oliver Grant.” Oliver is the son of my
first counselor, Josh Grant.
Camp Seneca Lake is special.
Sincerely,
Ari Baum
