Stories With Seneca
The big headline for today is that CSL raised $2600 for four charities by running laps around camp. Campers and staff earned 1, 3, or 5 cents for each lap depending on the length. The evening started with the opening ceremonies where campers and staff informed camp about the charities. I talked about an organization called End Hunger Now. On Tuesday night after dinner we weighed all the food that was thrown away and it was a total of 65 pounds. That got me thinking about how there is enough food to go around buy some people have 65 pounds too much and some people have none. The event started at approximately 6:15 PM. My friend Sophie and I ran/walked/jogged until 8 o clock. The two of us raised $2.77. Our legs felt like cooked Ramen noodles after running that far. Sitting down and getting up required a considerable amount of effort with optional groaning. In other words, we were wiped out but very, very happy. At the opening ceremonies a "spark" was lit, at the closing ceremonies a flame was ignited.
