Glee Club Performance Recap
The
July 2013 CSL Glee Club performed at last Thursday’s Hobby Culmination in front
of all of camp. They looked
incredibly slick in their costumes and performed all newly-arranged material
based on their favorite songs.
Here was our program:
Mashup 1*: Cup Song/I Love It
Pop Medley**: excerpts from I Gotta Feeling, Party in the
USA, New York State of Mind, Replay, In My Head, Bad Romance and Break Your
Heart
Mashup 2: Umbrella/True Colors

Most importantly, these kids
killed it. They memorized every word, held every harmony and sounded great. I have
gotten so many comments raving about how well they did, particularly in light
of the fact that many of the performers were younger campers with limited
singing experience. Each time I’d write a new piece for them, the kids would
pick it up immediately. In the rehearsals leading up to the performance, we
were so ahead of schedule that we got to rehearse all around camp and do yoga
exercises to cool down at the end of many sessions.
This was CSL’s first Glee Club,
and they set a killer example as we move forward with this hobby group. Camp
was so impressed and it was a joy conducting them- it will be exciting to see
what August’s Glee Club brings to the table.
