Camp is an indescribable place.  It is hard to imagine all the things that campers go through in just four short weeks.  They hone their skills during hobbies, bond with their peers during bunk nights, and defy age groups to come together as a team during events such as fight song and color war.  These experiences help to shape a campers life during these weeks, and many such events will have a resounding impact on the camper for a much longer period of time.

I still have many fond memories from my camper years.  Feeling my arms cramp as I canoe across the lake, learning archery for the first time, sailing (and capsizing) boats, and countless more.  Such experiences at camp helped to develop me as a person.  I cultivated many skills, some seemingly useless (like sailing, archery, and expert tie-dieing), while others are much more important.  I learned leadership at camp.  I learned how to be a part of a team, and how to work with others.  I learned how to enjoy myself, and how to appreciate every moment because they will pass all too quickly, as camp always does.

This year will be my first working in programming.  I am excited to work with the other programming staff in bringing campers events that will enrich their lives this summer.  I feel confident that we will be able to make this summer better than any previous, and it is my hope that each and every camper will leave having grown (at least a little bit), and having learned something that will help them later on in life.
