Greetings to those of you who have stumbled upon the brand new Tiyulim blog! This is not only the first post in The Tiyulim Times but also the first blog introduction of the brand new Tiyulim program at CSL! In short, Tiyulim is the Hebrew word for "journeys." This new program will take every camper on a single or multi-day adventure trip that will allow campers to experience the outdoors in a way they have never seen before. With that said, the Tiyulim staff mission is to enrich the character and leadership development of the campers by providing a wholesome environment that allows them to express their individualism and learn about the importance of selflessness and teamwork.
So let's get down to this week's activities with Tiyulim! Today the Tiyulim staff met with bunks M1,M2, and M3 for their hiking period to prepare for Thursday's departure to Taughannock Falls in Trumansburg, NY. The staff introduced the trip itinerary to the campers, along with a detailed packing list and a brief history of the region. This summer the staff of Tiyulim will be stressing the importance of balancing safety with fun. Today's activity of pitching tents highlighted this concept by completing the goal of safely putting up a tent (avoiding injuries such as pole impalements and the ever so popular tent-zipper pinch, ouch!) while also having a good time together.
Stay tuned for more updates as the trips come closer!
