Since my first year at camp in 2002, a lot has changed.  There have been big changes like new cabins and smaller changes like new Buddy Boards.  One of the most subtle changes, though, has been the slow transformations of the trails around camp.

When I was in C-1, we begged to take the C-Trail to the Dining Hall every morning and a couple times each session our counselors would take us.  The trail is not quicker than the road as it loops through the woods and past the ravine, but as an 8 year-old boy it is a lot more exciting.  Holding a rope and descending down to the ravine and grasping trees to get back up to the end of the trail, I felt like a young Indiana Jones.  Recently, the trail became overgrown and evolved into an even longer pathway to the Dining Hall, which means that it is only used on special occasions.

There are three trails that lead to the Waterfront—the S-Trail, the O-Trail, and the T-Trail—and each have a very different style.  The S-Trail has makeshift steps that are cut into the dirt.  The O-Trail has steps that are 4x4s put into the groups with a secured rope for support.  The T-Trail has an interesting style as it was renovated via a service project that Tusc did in 2008.  The steps in the T-Trail now mimic those in the O-Trail.

As trails are changed by Tikkun Olam, village projects, and overgrowing nature they remain fun to explore year after year.
